A collagenated, spongy, heterologous bone block produced using the exclusive Tecnoss® process, which prevents the ceramization of hydroxyapatite crystals, thus accelerating physiological resorption. Sp-Block supports new bone formation (1) : thanks to its rigid consistency, it is able to maintain the volume of the original graft over time, which is particularly important in the case of extensive regenerations. Furthermore, its collagen content facilitates blood clot formation and subsequent invasion of regenerative and reparative cells, promoting the complete restoration of the missing bone.
In vitro studies with periodontal ligament stem cells (2) cultured on Sp-Block have reported increased calcium deposition and high expression of type I collagen, highlighting the tendency towards osteogenic differentiation at 14 and 21 days after their deposition on Sp-Block . Use: Before use, Sp-Block must be rehydrated for 5-10 minutes in sterile physiological solution. Subsequently, it can be adapted to the recipient site, which must be carefully decorticated to ensure maximum contact; the block must always be fixed with micro-osteosynthesis screws and protected with a resorbable membrane ( Evolution ). Clinical indications: Sp-Block has been documented for the vertical regeneration of atrophic posterior mandibles using the inlay technique (3-9) in order to achieve a maximum bone increase of 5 mm with a follow-up of 2 to 7 years (4) ; the gaps around the block were filled with granular biomaterial; the grafted area is stabilized with plates and osteosynthesis screws and protected with an Evolution membrane.
