The GC Saliva-Check Buffer kit allows you to better understand your patient's oral environment. This allows you to better plan the appropriate treatment and prevention program for your patients. The GC Saliva-Check Buffer kit is based on 5 steps, the first 3 involving the examination of unstimulated saliva and the last 2 involving the examination of stimulated saliva. Since the functions and characteristics of these two types of saliva are different, evaluating both test results will provide extremely useful and valuable diagnostic and communication tools for the patient.


Characteristics

• It analyzes the flow, viscosity, and consistency of unstimulated saliva. This provides insight into how a patient's lifestyle may be impacting their oral health.
• It analyzes the pH of the patient's saliva at rest. This determines whether the acid levels are excessively high and therefore may cause erosion or tooth decay.
• It analyzes the amount of stimulated saliva the patient is able to produce. This allows for the identification of potentially serious pathologies affecting the salivary glands.
• It analyzes the buffering capacity (quality) of stimulated saliva. This determines how effective saliva is at neutralizing acids in the mouth.

Ease of use
The test can be performed during a routine visit, and the results can be explained to the patient as part of a discussion about prevention and treatment. The dentist and patient can then work together to develop a plan to restore salivary balance.
