Retrograde filling

After cutting the root apex (1 or 2 mm terminal), retrograde obturation of the canal must be performed. The major disadvantages of existing materials for this purpose are: the inability to prevent the release of irritants from the infected canal into the periradicular tissues, the complete lack of biocompatibility with vital tissues, and their inability to promote tissue regeneration. The use of MTA, on the other hand, is associated with significantly less inflammation, cement formation on the material's surface, and regeneration of the periradicular tissues. Furthermore, it is completely unaffected by the humidity present, which favors its hardening in situ.
