IonoStar Molar is a recently developed glass ionomer material in the new VOCO application capsule. The material can be applied without conditioner or adhesive, and its properties speak for themselves: its non-sticky consistency perfectly seals the margins. Ionostar Molar can be shaped immediately after application and hardens completely after four minutes. Its continuous fluoride release counteracts postoperative sensitivity. In combination with the nano-filled Easy Glaze varnish, indicated for sealing tooth surfaces, IonoStar Molar allows for long-lasting and aesthetic restorations to be created quickly and easily.
IonoStar Molar draws on VOCO's decades of experience in developing glass ionomers, which have proven themselves millions of times in clinical practice. Thanks to its new composition, IonoStar Molar has excellent material properties and demonstrates high compressive strength and abrasion resistance. The new composition also facilitates easy handling and allows for individual adjustment of the material's consistency by adjusting the mixing time in the high-frequency mixer. This allows for a softer or harder consistency.
IonoStar Molar is indicated for fillings of Class I cavities that are not exposed to occlusal loads, semi-permanent fillings of Class I and II cavities, fillings of cervical lesions, Class V cavities, root caries treatments, fillings of Class III cavities, restorations of deciduous teeth, base linings or fillers for core build-ups, and for temporary fillings. This makes IonoStar Molar highly versatile and enables the desired therapeutic success according to the respective indication. The advantages of the new VOCO application capsule are not to be underestimated.
One advantage of the new VOCO application capsule is that an activator is no longer needed. The capsule simply needs to be pressed against a hard surface so that the colored piston is pushed into the capsule. It is then mixed as usual in a high-frequency mixer. Before placing the capsule in a standard applicator, the cannula is pulled up and the material can be applied. The new capsule design allows for optimal treatment of small cavities or hard-to-reach areas.
