DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

Assure® Plus Universal Bonding Resin is designed to increase adhesion to atypical enamel surfaces (wet or dry), including hypocalcified, fluorous, and deciduous enamel and dentin. It bonds to roughened metal (amalgam, gold, or stainless steel), porcelain, zirconia, composite restorations, and temporary teeth/acrylic bridges.

PRODUCT FEATURES:

Assure® Plus Universal Bonding Resin is hydrophilic, so the etched enamel may be dry or slightly contaminated with saliva. It can be used as a base for any light-cured or dual-cured composite from any manufacturer.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

PROPHYLAXIS: Using a rotating instrument with a rubber cup or brush, perform prophylaxis on the enamel surfaces to be bonded with 1st & Final® or ordinary pumice. Do not use oil-containing prophy pastes, as they may leave a film that inhibits etching. Special attention should be paid to the lingual and posterior surfaces of the teeth, as patient hygiene may be poor and tartar may form. Rinse thoroughly and dry the teeth with oil- and moisture-free compressed air.

ETCHING: Distribute the etching agent onto the mixing pad. The etchant can be liquid or gel. Isolate the tooth for etching. Using a cotton swab or toothbrush, touch the entire area to be bonded, distributing the etching agent. Do not rub the etching agent into the enamel. Allow 30 seconds for etching (60 seconds for deciduous teeth). Avoid placing the etching agent on soft tissue.

NOTE: You can use a self-etching primer instead of a phosphoric acid-based etchant. If using a self-etching primer, proceed with the application of the bonding resin.

RINSE AND DRY: Rinse thoroughly with a combination of water and spray to clean the enamel surface. Rinse each tooth with copious amounts of water for 10 seconds (20 seconds with gel etchant) to stop the etching process and remove demineralized particles. Thorough rinsing of each tooth is essential. At this point, do not allow the patient to rinse or contaminate the enamel surface. Isolate and dry the teeth completely. The etched area should appear ice-white. If not, etch again for another 20 seconds.

BONDING RESIN APPLICATION: Using a brush or sponge pellet, apply a layer of Assure® Plus Universal Bonding Resin to each prepared tooth and reapply to ensure penetration into the enamel and evaporation of the solvent. If, after drying, the enamel is dull, apply an additional layer of Assure® Plus and dry. If only one or two teeth are being treated and the sealant appears moist, gently air dry to evaporate the solvent. Apply any light-cured paste with the appliance and light-cure. If a chemically curable paste is used, the Assure® Plus resin must be light-cured for 10 seconds before placing the appliance.

BONDING TO DENTIN: Perform prophylaxis, rinse, and dry the surface to be bonded. Acid-etch for 30 seconds, then rinse and dry. DO NOT DRY – LEAVE MOIST. Apply two coats of Assure® Plus Universal Bonding Resin and dry slightly after the final coat. Light-cure Assure® Plus for approximately 10 seconds. Apply paste and bracket.

BONDING TO A TOOTH WITH A COMPOSITE RESTORATION: Condition the exposed enamel as directed above and roughen the composite surface with a fine-grit diamond instrument. Rinse and dry the area. Apply a thin layer of Assure® Plus Universal Bonding Resin and dry lightly. Apply the paste and bracket. If using a chemical bonding agent, pre-cure Assure® Plus for 10 seconds per tooth. Proceed with placement of the bracket and adhesive.

BONDING TO AN AMALGAM RESTORATION OR METAL SURFACE: Condition the exposed enamel as directed above. Sandblast or roughen the metal surface using a medium bur and apply a coat of Assure® Plus Universal Bonding Resin and dry lightly. Apply the paste and bracket. If using a chemical bonding agent, pre-cure Assure® Plus for 10 seconds per tooth. Proceed with placement of the bracket and adhesive.

BONDING TO PORCELAIN: Sandblast the porcelain surface. Apply a coat of Porcelain Conditioner. Apply a coat of Assure® Plus Universal Bonding Resin and air dry slightly. Apply the paste and bracket. If using a chemical bonding agent, pre-cure Assure Plus for 10 seconds per tooth. Proceed with placement of the bracket and adhesive.

ZIRCONIUM BONDING: Sandblast the zirconia surface. Apply a layer of Assure® Plus Universal Bonding Resin and light cure for ten seconds. Proceed with positioning of the paste and bracket.
