Material
Copolymer of glycolic acid and lactic acid (Polyglactin 910). Dodecanol, an alcohol-based component, was added during the polymerization process, increasing in vivo tensile strength by 25%.
Coating type
Polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate.
Features
- The presence of lactic acid and dodecanol in the synthesis process ensures maximum tensile strength in the first few days after implantation.
- The special coating gives the suture excellent passage through tissues and ideal knot-tying ability, particularly useful in confined and deep surgical fields.
- The particular braided structure ensures high tensile strength and extreme ease of handling.
In vivo tensile strength
75% after 2 weeks, 50% after 3 weeks for sizes 6/0 and larger; 37% after 3 weeks for sizes 7/0 and smaller.
Absorption
Via hydrolysis, minimal up to day 40; complete between day 56 and day 70.
