BIOCRYL sutures are indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures. The safety and efficacy of Biocryl sutures in cardiovascular and neural tissues have not yet been established.

Copolymer of 90% glycolic acid and 10% lactic acid (Polyglactin 910).
Tensile strength
BIOCRYL sutures maintain approximately 75% of their breaking strength two weeks after implantation, and approximately 50% after three weeks. After four weeks, the breaking strength for USP 4/0 sutures is approximately 30% of its initial strength, and for USP 2/0 sutures it is less than 25%.
Absorption
It occurs through hydrolysis and is complete approximately between 56 and 70 days.
