HybenX is a semi-viscous liquid for oral topical use, containing sulfonated phenolic compounds and sulfuric acid in aqueous solution. It is a Class I medical device designed to effectively eliminate bacterial biofilm from root and implant surfaces where mechanical procedures alone are insufficient.

Why is biofilm so difficult to remove?

Biofilm is a complex polymeric matrix (polysaccharides, proteins, DNA) in which bacteria are strongly embedded and protected. This structure:

• Makes mechanical removal from contaminated root and implant surfaces almost impossible
• Increases bacterial resistance to topical and systemic disinfectants and antibiotics
• Facilitates nutrient supply and exotoxin dispersion

How does HybenX work?

HybenX utilizes the hygroscopic characteristic of sulfur in solution to rapidly absorb the water contained in the biofilm, dehydrating it. Without water, the organic polymers of the matrix precipitate, the biofilm structure collapses, and detaches from the surface. The coagulated biofilm is then easily removed by irrigation and high-speed aspiration.
