Transcend™
THE COMPETITION
Transcend™ composite, with its ability to adapt to the natural color of the surrounding dentition, allows for excellent results with a single shade, without the need for a blocking agent. For cases where layering is indicated, in addition to the Universal Body shade, Transcend™ composite offers four dentin shades and two enamel shades.

The Revolutionary Technology
OF DENTAL COMPOSITES
Transcend™ composite was designed with Resin Particle Match™ technology. The balanced refractive indices of the resin and filler, together with careful optimization of translucency and opacity values, allow Transcend™ composite to adapt to the natural color of most surrounding dentition using a single shade (just one-shade) and without the use of a blocking agent.

High optical and physical properties

Amalgam Restoration
Amalgam staining represents one of the most challenging restorative situations for dentists. In this case, the tooth was restored with Transcend™ composite's Universal Body shade. No blocking agent was used because the Universal Body shade has sufficient opacity to cover pigmentations at the bottom of the cavity, blending with the natural tooth color.

No Characterization or Layering
The patient presented with an incongruous restoration on the disto-buccal aspect of tooth #11 and mesio-buccal of tooth #12. There was also secondary caries on #12, as well as gingival recession. Finally, darker, yellowish dentin was observed in the cervical area. The existing enamel was translucent. After removal of caries and defective restorations, the etching and bonding phase was performed, and Transcend™ composite's Universal Body shade was used to reduce the interdental space. Transcend™ composite is able to mimic the color of the surrounding tooth, without the need for any characterization or layering.

Preparations with Transcend™ Composite
Young patient presented with interproximal caries on maxillary premolars. Excellent color match using Transcend™ composite's Universal Body shade.

With a single shade (just one-shade)
Incongruous composite restorations on teeth #36 and #37. Both showed microleakage at the margins between the restoration and the teeth. The proximal fissures on tooth #36 were considerably deeper than the Class I preparation on tooth #37. Both teeth were restored with Transcend™ composite's Universal Body shade. Note the perfect integration between the composite and the dental structure in both teeth. No blocking agent or other composite color was used.
Dr. Rafael Beolchi

Direct Bonded Restoration
The patient presented with an incongruous composite restoration. Removal of the filling revealed amalgam pigmentation and a mesial fissure. The mesial fissure was still small and manageable, making a direct bonded restoration possible instead of an inlay. For the bonding phase, UltraEtch™ etchant and Peak™ Universal Bond adhesive were used. A thin layer of A3 PermaFlo™ flowable composite was then initially applied, followed by Transcend™ composite's Universal Body shade, with which the restoration was completed. The composite was then finished and polished.

Defective Restoration and Caries Removed
The patient presented with occlusal caries/defective restoration on tooth #25 and occlusal caries on tooth #26. The caries and incongruous restoration were removed, and Transcend™ universal composite was applied. In the final image, no characterization was used to show how well Transcend™ composite adapts to the natural color of the surrounding dentition.

Small Class I Effectively Restored
For this Class I restoration, Transcend™ composite's Universal Body shade was used.
Dr. Gary Findley

Broken Amalgam Filling
The patient presented with defective amalgam fillings. The defective restorations were removed and replaced using Transcend™ composite's Universal Body shade.
Dr. Brigham Stoker

Restoration of Lower Molars
The patient presented with a failed composite restoration. After removing the old restorations, both lower molars were restored using Transcend™ composite's Universal Body shade. Note the perfect integration between the composite and the dental structure of the buccal wall of the first lower molar.
