Active Moisture Control

DENTIN TOO WET OR TOO DRY: NO PROBLEM.

Most adhesives are relatively hydrophobic and tend to separate from water. If there is too much water on the prepared surface, the adhesive cannot achieve uniform coverage, leaving voids that can weaken the adhesive bond and potentially cause post-operative sensitivity. If the dentin is excessively dried, collagen fibers can collapse, preventing effective adhesion.

Prime&Bond active overcomes the surface tension of water and spreads over the entire dentin and into the dentinal tubules to form a deep bond through a homogeneous layer. After air-drying, the solvent and water evaporate together, leaving a uniform thickness of adhesive over the entire surface to ensure a strong adhesive bond.

Intrinsic surface tension prevents other adhesives from spreading easily over the cavity surface. Dry areas, not covered by the adhesive layer, can weaken the restoration and cause post-operative sensitivity and microleakage problems.

LOW FILM THICKNESS

Adhesives with a thick layer tend to settle in the proximal box corners of Class II restorations. These adhesive accumulations appear as translucent areas on radiographs, which can be mistakenly identified as a void, gap, or secondary caries, leading to unnecessary restoration replacement. Thicker adhesives can also alter the preparation's geometry, impacting the precision of crown cementation.
