ReliX Luting Cement Kit 3M
RelyX™ Luting cement is a resin-modified glass ionomer cement for the routine cementation of metal and metal-ceramic crowns, bridges, inlays/onlays, and full ceramic or zirconia crowns such as Lava™.
- Radiopaque
- Substantial fluoride release
- Reduced post-operative sensitivity2
"The typical characteristics of a glass ionomer combine with the advantages of composite cements, such as absence of solubility and high fracture resistance…"
RelyX™ Luting Cement (originally known as Vitremer™) was first introduced to the market in 1994. The product consists of powder and liquid which are dispensed at a 1:1 ratio and mixed manually for 30 seconds.
The working time of the mixed cement is 2.5 minutes. The resulting mixture has a mousse-like consistency, which allows for easy application in and on the restoration. Excess cement can be removed 2-3 minutes after intraoral application.
The RelyX™ cement quickly gained popularity due to its ease of use, handling, and finishing, and the low incidence of post-operative sensitivity.
Indications:
RelyX™ Luting cement and RelyX™ Luting Plus cement are indicated for the cementation of the following types of restorations:
- Metal-ceramic crowns and bridges
- Metal crowns, inlays, and onlays
- Prefabricated temporary metal crowns
- Full ceramic zirconia or alumina crowns and bridges (i.e., Lava™ Zirconia by 3M™ ESPE™ or Procera® AllCeram)
- Prefabricated or cast posts
- Orthodontic bands and appliances
Technical Information:
RelyX™ Luting Cement is a self-curing, radiopaque, fluoride-releasing, resin-modified glass ionomer cement.
RelyX™ Luting cement exhibits molecular adhesion to the tooth surface without the need for a separate conditioner and ensures good strength, fluoride ion release, low solubility or acid erosion of margins, as well as a simple and technique-independent procedure.
Adhesion to tooth structure An advantage of glass ionomer cements is their intrinsic ability to ensure molecular adhesion to the tooth structure without having to apply an etchant or an adhesive. Although some products recommend the use of a separate conditioner on the tooth surface to promote adhesion, RelyX™ Luting cement and RelyX™ Luting Plus do not require this step.
Adhesion to restorative material substrates In addition to adhesion to tooth structure and abutment substrates, cements must also be able to adhere to different types of restorative material substrates for which they are indicated. The main restorative material substrates indicated for modified glass ionomer cements are metal, alumina, and zirconia.
